Our First Lady
First Lady Vanessa T. Goforth was born and reared in Houston, Texas. She is the daughter of Glenn Taylor, Sr. and Mrs. Earlean Taylor Jones. She is a 1987 magna cum lauda graduate of Benedict College where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education and Early Childhood. She has done additional study at Texas Woman’s University of Denton, Texas and South Carolina State University of Orangeburg, South Carolina.
First Lady Goforth entered into a personal relationship with the LORD in 1981, and her life has never been the same. She is a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church in Bowman, S.C., and serves under the leadership of her pastor and her husband, Pastor A.W. Goforth III. She is the Youth Directress, Women’s Sunday School Class Teacher, Young Women’s Class Teacher, and Youth Bible Study Teacher, and is involved with many other church activities.
First Lady Goforth is the Youth Advisor for the Orangeburg-Calhoun Missionary Baptist Association, and serves as a Registrar for the South Carolina Baptist Youth Congress of Christian Education. She has been the speaker for numerous women’s programs, and has served as a facilitator for many youth gatherings and workshops.
First Lady Goforth is the president of the Keenan High School Booster Club, the president of the Mossely Hills Neighborhood Association, secretary of Women to Women Bible Study, and is involved in various other community organizations. She is actively involved as a volunteer with Richland School District 1.
First Lady Goforth is a homemaker and devotes most of her time pouring herself in meeting the needs of her husband and children. She is a lover of the outdoors, and enjoys exercising and fishing. She enjoys arts, crafts, quilting, and crocheting. She, also, has never met a stranger, and loves sharing the good news of Jesus Christ with others.

“I have been crucified with Christ; is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.”
