                                                                                    OUR PASTOR

 Pastor Arthur W. Goforth III
was born the second of three children to Pastor A.W. Goforth II and Mrs. Gladys Butler Goforth in Gaffney, South Carolina. At the age of 8, he accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.  In 1982, he answered the Lord’s call into the Gospel ministry and was licensed to preach by Zion Baptist of Columbia, South Carolina. He was ordained by the Gethsemane Baptist Association in 1986.

In 1986, Pastor Goforth accepted the call to pastor the Sweet Home Baptist Church of Columbia, South Carolina. In 1998, he was called to become the Lord’s under-shepherd of the Mount Zion Baptist Church in Bowman, South Carolina, where the Lord is doing wonderful things.

Pastor Goforth is a man of vision, an inspiring teacher, and a dynamic, passionate preacher.  Under his leadership and vision, the Mount Zion church family completed a $100,000 renovation project of its sanctuary, and currently, plans are underway for the second phase of the initial vision, which is a 1.2 million dollar Community Family Life Center.

Pastor Goforth’s
vision for ministry is that of preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ, nurturing the people of God in the values and teaching of the Christian faith, ministering daily in the home, church, and the world, and being a model of a consistent Christian living.
